Oh, darn it. Even cool, hip Apple has blown in on the color-usability front.
The color used to indicate the amount of space used for "Audio" and "Video" on one's iPod when it is docked to iTunes appear as the same color. No kidding. When I first saw this I said to myself "Why did Apple lump audio and video into the same color label. Oh, wait. There are two different colors there."
I'm guessing the two colors are blue and purple. These are bad color choices to have adjacent to each other because I cannot detect the red in purple, rendering it blue to me. Now, I could suffer with this--when I get really close to the screen I can distinguish the audio and video sections of the bar, but only as different shades of the same color. But why should I suffer? Well, it is free software.
Again the solution comes down to either choosing primary colors that are contrasting, or labeling the colors. I don't mind ambiguous shades if they are labeled.
